This decision relates to a corruption case filed by the CBI. Special Judge Kaavya Baveja ordered the extension of Kejriwal’s custody after he was presented via video conference. The court will consider the supplementary chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 27.

Earlier, Kejriwal was arrested in connection with an alleged excise duty scam. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him from his residence on March 21. Shortly after his arrest, the Delhi High Court rejected his plea for interim protection, which ruled out immediate relief for him.

Following his arrest, on July 12, the Supreme Court granted him interim bail in the money laundering case. The Supreme Court directed a larger bench to examine three crucial questions regarding the necessity of Kejriwal’s arrest. This bench will address these questions to determine if his arrest is warranted.

Although the Supreme Court granted interim bail in the money laundering case, Kejriwal remains in judicial custody due to the ongoing CBI case. The CBI has charged him with corruption, and the investigation is still ongoing.

During the next hearing on August 27, the court will review the supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI, which will determine the future course of action in the case. Meanwhile, the extension of Kejriwal’s judicial custody indicates that further investigation and legal proceedings are needed. The proceedings in this case could have significant political and social implications, as it involves a major political party and its leader. Therefore, all eyes are on the upcoming court hearing in this case.

1993 to 2024: The Shadow of Rape Cases on Mamata Banerjee’s Leadership: How a Vow from 31 Years Ago Sank the Left’s Sun https://nacionstory.com/2024/08/20/1993-to-2024-the-shadow-of-rape-cases-on-mamata-banerjees-leadership-how-a-vow-from-31-years-ago-sank-the-lefts-sun/ https://nacionstory.com/2024/08/20/1993-to-2024-the-shadow-of-rape-cases-on-mamata-banerjees-leadership-how-a-vow-from-31-years-ago-sank-the-lefts-sun/#respond Tue, 20 Aug 2024 08:18:32 +0000 https://nacionstory.com/?p=2001 A recent incident in West Bengal has captured the nation’s attention. The rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata have shaken not just the state but the entire country. People have taken to the streets in protest against this heinous crime, and questions are being raised about Mamata Banerjee’s government. The state has seen continuous protests for the past 11 days, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is facing sharp criticism. The case is now under CBI investigation, but many unresolved questions remain. This incident has brought back memories of another event from 31 years ago, in which Mamata Banerjee played a crucial role, and the government was under scrutiny then as well.

In the early days of 1993, West Bengal was under the Left Front government led by Jyoti Basu. During that time, a physically disabled girl was raped in Nadia district. The incident caused an uproar in the state, and attacks on Jyoti Basu’s government began. Mamata Banerjee, who was an emerging leader at the time, brought the victim to the West Bengal government secretariat, the Writers’ Building. Mamata accused the government of not arresting the culprits due to their political connections and demanded a meeting with the then-Chief Minister Jyoti Basu. When her demand was not met, she began a sit-in protest in front of the CM’s chamber.

When Jyoti Basu refused to meet Mamata Banerjee, the police forcibly removed her and the victim from the secretariat. Female police officers dragged Mamata down the stairs, tearing her clothes in the process. After this incident, Mamata vowed that she would only set foot in that building again when she became the Chief Minister. After 18 years of struggle, Mamata entered the building as Chief Minister on May 20, 2011, shaking the foundations of Left rule in West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee continued her protests and demonstrations against the Left Front government for 18 years. Her struggle shook the foundation of Leftist rule and eventually brought her to power. It is said that former Chief Minister Jyoti Basu was so upset with Mamata’s politics that he never publicly mentioned her name, always referring to her as “that woman.”

Mamata Banerjee’s political career has been filled with struggles and controversies. The recent rape-murder case of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital has once again put Mamata under scrutiny. But this is not the first time Mamata Banerjee’s role in rape cases has been questioned. There was an incident in Hanskhali, where Mamata dismissed the rape case as an “affair.” Similarly, when people protested against a rape in Kamudini, she labeled them as CPI(M) supporters. Mamata Banerjee’s controversial statements on rape cases during her tenure have often made headlines, especially when the allegations involved members of her party. Throughout her years in power, Mamata has often labeled rape cases as “false.” When asked to respond to rape cases as a woman leader, she presents herself as a victim. If the opposition questions her, Mamata does not hesitate to turn the tables and accuse them instead.

The rape-murder case of a trainee doctor in Kolkata has once again put Mamata Banerjee’s leadership under the spotlight. The role of her government and the statements she has made regarding rape cases remain fresh in people’s memories. The people of West Bengal, who have witnessed Mamata Banerjee’s struggle and courage, are now asking her why her approach to heinous crimes like rape is so passive. The question on everyone’s mind is whether Mamata Banerjee will show the same courage today as she did in 1993.

CBI Reinvestigates RG Kar Medical College, Inquiry into Sanjay Rai’s Activities and Other Aspects. https://nacionstory.com/2024/08/17/cbi-reinvestigates-rg-kar-medical-college-inquiry-into-sanjay-rais-activities-and-other-aspects/ https://nacionstory.com/2024/08/17/cbi-reinvestigates-rg-kar-medical-college-inquiry-into-sanjay-rais-activities-and-other-aspects/#respond Sat, 17 Aug 2024 08:38:08 +0000 https://nacionstory.com/?p=1993 On Saturday morning, a CBI team revisited RG Kar Medical College. The CBI officials alighted from their car and began digital mapping of the crime scene. This action is part of an investigation into aspects that might reveal the relationship between the victim and the accused. The CBI team is questioning former Principal Dr. Sandeep Ghosh for the second consecutive day. This questioning is related to the rape and murder case involving an intern doctor. Additionally, the CBI is focusing on all individuals who were directly connected to the victim and were in contact with her at the time of the incident.

So far, CCTV footage shows that the arrested accused, Sanjay Rai, visited the hospital around 11:00 PM on Thursday. Rai stayed at the hospital for approximately 30 minutes, and his activities were clearly recorded. He returned to the hospital between 3:45 and 3:50 AM, entered the seminar hall, stayed there for about 35 minutes, and then left.

According to sources, the victim and her friends ordered food around midnight through an online app. Kolkata police have also recorded statements from the delivery boy. The postmortem report indicates that the victim died approximately four hours after eating the food. The CBI has also recorded statements from the four doctors who ordered and ate the food with the victim that night. The CBI team is also recording statements from all individuals directly connected to the victim who met her before the incident. Meanwhile, the CBI is analyzing the details of Sanjay Rai’s mobile phone and its location data. This information might help understand the events that occurred that night.

The investigation has also revealed that CCTV footage clearly shows Sanjay Rai’s activities within the hospital. The CBI is considering this crucial evidence as it continues its investigation and searches for other potential clues. The thorough investigation by the CBI is expected to help resolve the complexities of the case and ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.

‘Why is the government interested in this?’ TMC gets setback from Supreme Court in Sandeshkhali case, CBI investigation to continue https://nacionstory.com/2024/07/08/why-is-the-government-interested-in-this-tmc-gets-setback-from-supreme-court-in-sandeshkhali-case-cbi-investigation-to-continue/ https://nacionstory.com/2024/07/08/why-is-the-government-interested-in-this-tmc-gets-setback-from-supreme-court-in-sandeshkhali-case-cbi-investigation-to-continue/#respond Mon, 08 Jul 2024 09:46:06 +0000 https://nacionstory.com/?p=1945

The Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal has suffered a major setback from the Supreme Court. The apex court has dismissed the state’s petition challenging the order of the Kolkata High Court. The High Court had ordered a CBI investigation into all cases related to sexual exploitation of women, land grabbing, and ration scams in Sandeshkhali. The state government had challenged this order of the High Court in the Supreme Court, but the court dismissed the state’s petition. During the hearing, the bench of Justice B. R. Gavai and Justice K. V. Viswanathan questioned the state government on why they are so interested in this case and whom they are trying to protect.

The High Court order clearly stated that a CBI investigation is necessary in serious cases such as sexual exploitation of women, land grabbing, and ration scams in Sandeshkhali. The state government had argued that the High Court’s order had demoralized the police force and the entire state apparatus. This decision of the Supreme Court has given a major blow to the West Bengal government, as it has made it clear that the High Court’s order has been upheld and now these cases will be investigated by the CBI.

The state government had argued that local police and other state agencies are capable of investigating these cases, but the Supreme Court rejected this argument. The court stated that in such serious and sensitive matters, an impartial investigation is necessary, which can only be ensured by a central agency like the CBI. This entire incident has increased political tension in the state. The opposition has welcomed this decision and questioned the Mamata Banerjee government on whom they were trying to protect. On the other hand, the Mamata Banerjee government has said that they were only trying to maintain the morale of the state’s administrative machinery and had no intention of protecting anyone.

The message of this decision is that in the eyes of the judiciary, an impartial investigation is paramount and if central agencies need to be involved to ensure this, there is nothing wrong with it. The state government should learn a lesson from this decision and take appropriate steps in the future to avoid such situations.

Manipur Horror continues: CBI to intervene over two Meitei teen killings, women staged protest https://nacionstory.com/2023/09/27/manipur-horror-continues-cbi-to-intervene-over-two-meitei-teen-killings-women-staged-protest/ https://nacionstory.com/2023/09/27/manipur-horror-continues-cbi-to-intervene-over-two-meitei-teen-killings-women-staged-protest/#respond Wed, 27 Sep 2023 10:23:11 +0000 https://nacionstory.com/?p=1369 The horrific crimes in Manipur took another ugly turn with the brutal killing of two youngsters belonging to the Meitei community aged seventeen and twenty allegedly by the armed men. The north-eastern state of India, Manipur, continues to boil with the fresh protests staged by the women forming a human chain urging for peace in the state and clashes between the forces and students, attracting the investigation by the Special Director Ajay Bhatnagar of CBI, who took a special flight with other officials on Wednesday.

Few days ago it was with the announcement by the chief minister of Manipur –N Biren Singh that the ban on the internet was lifted after month’s chaos and cut off. But the images of the two girl students, being surfaced on the social media, has ignited the series of rage and protests by the students and the women in large numbers, leading to another clash between the forces and the civilians. The ban on the internet is back this morning (27/9/2023) till 1st of October 2023 with three days shutting of all the schools including private, government, aided, as the clashes concluded with bomb shelling, tear gas and grave injuries sustained by the students who were protesting against the violence.

It was during the peak of the ethnic violence in Manipur, which started taking shaping in the month of early May 2023 that the incident rolled with the kidnapping of the two girls allegedly by the Kuki militants. The images which are going viral right now on various platforms shows the two girls sitting in the backdrop of the green grassland on one hand and their bodies on the other hand, inviting the rage of every Indian.

Even though the Chief Minister- N Biren Singh has assured a swift action will be taken against all those involved in the abduction and murdering of the two girls and stated that both center and state is working to bring back the normalcy in the state, the opposition is demanding the direct involvement of the Prime minister and a cease to the violence which the state has been witnessing. It is quite evident that even after deploying over 1,700 officers the situation in the state is still hard to control spare the question of building harmonious connect between the communities as well as between the civilians and the forces.

The demonstration led by the women demanded peace building initiatives and justice in the state where the situation is no better even after five months of continuous chaos and over 150 civilians have lost their lives. In addition to the case of two students- Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemit who were allegedly kidnapped on 6th of july 2023, another horror of torture and killing of Irengbam Chingkheinganba and his cousin Sagolshem Ngaleiba have also grabbed the eyes of International communities. With the intervention of CBI to probe the hopes of impartial investigation and Justice have been installed in the hearts of the citizens.
