Swami Prasad Maurya Resigns from Samajwadi Party, Sparks Speculation Over Future Plans

Swami Prasad Maurya, a prominent leader in the Samajwadi Party, has announced his resignation from the party, citing “ideological differences” with its leader, Akhilesh Yadav. Maurya, who has been a member of the Samajwadi Party for over two decades, claims that the party is deviating from its socialist ideology, which he believes is the foundation of the party’s principles.

In a statement released to the media, Maurya expressed his concerns about the direction in which the party is heading, stating that it has moved away from its core values and principles. He emphasized that the Samajwadi Party was founded on the principles of socialism, secularism, and social justice, and that these values should be upheld at all costs.

Maurya’s resignation comes at a time when the Samajwadi Party is gearing up for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. His departure from the party is likely to have a significant impact on its electoral prospects, as he is considered to be a key leader in the state. The rift between Akhilesh Yadav and Swami Prasad Maurya deepened after the Samajwadi Party chief suggested that Maurya had joined the SP for ‘for benefits‘.

Swami Prasad Maurya, in a sharp rebuke to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, stated, “He is not in power in the state or at the center and is not in a position to give anything. I will return everything he has given me until now. Ideology is important to me, not the position. The rights and welfare of all sections are my priority, and I will raise my voice whenever they are attacked.”

Maurya’s resignation has also sparked speculation about his future political plans. There are rumors that he may join another political party, or even form his own party.He is reportedly planning to launch his own political party on February 22 at New Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium.  However, Maurya has not yet made any official announcement regarding his future plans.

In response to Maurya’s resignation, Akhilesh Yadav has stated that he respects Maurya’s decision and wishes him well in his future endeavors. He has also reiterated his commitment to the party’s core values and principles, and has promised to continue working towards the betterment of the people of Uttar Pradesh.

Maurya’s resignation is likely to have a significant impact on the Samajwadi Party’s electoral prospects in Uttar Pradesh. His departure from the party is likely to weaken its position in the state, and may even lead to a split in the party. However, it remains to be seen how the party will respond to this challenge, and whether it will be able to overcome it in time for the upcoming assembly elections.

It is worth noting that Maurya has been embroiled in controversy in recent months, following his controversial statements about the Ramcharitmanas and the Ayodhya temple consecration ceremony.
