The controversies surrounding Pooja Khedkar seem to be unending. Recently, her mother, Manorama Khedkar, found herself embroiled in a controversy when a video of her waving a pistol went viral on social media. Following this incident, Manorama Khedkar and her husband, Dilip Khedkar, went into hiding. Pune Rural Police SP Pankaj Deshmukh recently provided a significant update on the case. He informed that IAS trainee Pooja Khedkar’s mother, Manorama Khedkar, was taken into custody from Mahad in Raigad district. This morning, Pune police arrested Manorama Khedkar on charges of possessing an illegal firearm.
This arrest stems from the viral video in which Manorama Khedkar was seen waving a pistol during a land dispute with local farmers in Mulshi village, Pune district. In the video, she was engaged in a heated argument with a farmer who was demanding land documents from her. As the argument escalated, Manorama threateningly waved the pistol but quickly hid it upon noticing the camera. The video caused a public outcry, prompting the police to search for Manorama and her husband, Dilip Khedkar. The Paud police have registered a case against the Khedkar couple and five other individuals under IPC Section 323 (wrongful restraint) and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Pune Rural SP Pankaj Deshmukh stated that Manorama Khedkar was taken into custody from Mahad in Raigad district and is being brought to Pune, where she will be formally arrested after completing the necessary procedures. Several teams were formed to locate Manorama, her husband, and the other five individuals involved. This incident has once again brought Pooja Khedkar and her family into the limelight of controversy, and further police action is awaited.
