There has been a major upheaval in the recent political developments in Jharkhand. The state’s Chief Minister, Champai Soren, has resigned from his position. On Wednesday evening, he reached Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation to the Governor. Following this, former Chief Minister Hemant Soren met with the Governor to stake a claim to form the government. This means that Hemant Soren is set to become the Chief Minister of Jharkhand once again. This decision was unanimously made among the legislators of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition. Party’s working president Hemant Soren is ready to return as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister for the third time. According to sources, during a meeting at Chief Minister Champai Soren’s residence in Ranchi, coalition leaders and legislators unanimously chose Hemant Soren as the leader of the JMM legislative party. A party source told a news agency, “In the meeting, it was decided to bring Hemant Soren in place of Champai Soren.”
After staking a claim to form the JMM government in Jharkhand, JMM’s working president Hemant Soren made a statement, saying, “CM (Champai Soren) has told you everything. We will tell you everything in detail. We have followed all procedures.” After submitting his resignation to the Governor, Jharkhand’s outgoing CM Champai Soren said, “A few days ago, I was made Chief Minister and given the responsibility of the state. But now the situation has changed, and with the return of Hemant Soren, our coalition has decided and chosen Hemant Soren as our leader. Hence, I am resigning from the position of Chief Minister.”
Hemant Soren was released from jail on June 28 after nearly five months. The High Court granted him bail in a money laundering case related to an alleged land scam. Before his arrest on January 31, he had resigned from the CM position. Hemant Soren is accused of illegally acquiring 8.86 acres of land worth over ₹31 crores. Immediately after his resignation as Chief Minister, he was arrested by the ED on January 31 in connection with the alleged land scam. Hemant Soren’s return marks a significant turning point in Jharkhand’s politics. He has previously served as Chief Minister and has significantly contributed to the state’s development. His return has brought happiness to party workers and supporters, who hope that he will once again work for the state’s betterment.
This political development increases the likelihood of a new government being formed in Jharkhand. Under Hemant Soren’s leadership, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and its allied parties are preparing to form a new government in the state. Citizens of the state also hope that this new leadership will take positive steps for the state’s development and prosperity.
