Modi will address the business forum on Tuesday, where he is expected to underline the importance of BRICS at a time when the world is still grappling with the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and the Ukraine war. Can meet Chinese President Xi Jinping
Narendra Modi will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping for the first time as the leaders meet on the summit’s first day. However, officially the meeting of the two leaders has yet to come to the fore. Either side has not ruled out the meeting, as the two leaders will be together in Johannesburg for about 48 hours. BRICS has five members: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Twenty-two countries want to join, but India and Brazil are cautious due to concerns about China’s dominance and upsetting Western nations.
